Official Rules & Regulations
Hair-Artist Competition 2026
The World’s First Online Competition Dedicated Exclusively to Hair Art Presented by Mobalon • Founded by Coach Ronnie Mac (Mr. Hair Art) • Benefiting Mobile Charities / HHH Charity
Tagline: “Everybody has hair… and we’re changing how the world sees it.”
1. Introduction & Purpose
The Hair-Artist Competition is the world’s first online competition dedicated exclusively to Hair Art — the intricate cutting of letters, numbers, pictures, cartoon characters, logos, and original designs directly into hair using clippers, razors, and professional barbering tools.
This groundbreaking event elevates the barber and beauty industries by turning hair into living, wearable art. All net proceeds support Mobile Charities (a 501(c)(3) nonprofit) and the HHH Charity (Haircuts for the Helpless & Homeless), which delivers free professional haircuts and dignity-restoring services to the homeless, shelters, veterans, first responders, schools, and underserved communities through mobile salon buses.
2. Who Can Enter (Eligibility)
The competition is open to everyone:
-
Any age, gender, race, ethnicity, nationality, or cultural background
-
Barbers, hairstylists, hair artists, students, recent graduates, and enthusiasts
-
Participants from the United States and internationally
-
No barber or cosmetology license is required to compete
Licensed Hair Artists who graduate from Mobalon’s Online Hair Art School (hairartschool.com) receive special advantages, including:
-
Dedicated category recognition
-
Additional voting weight
-
Premium placement on the website and Hair Art Network
3. Entry Fee, Spots & Formats
-
Entry Fee: $100 per entry
-
Total Spots: Strictly limited to 100 competitors (first-come, first-served)
-
Registration closes when spots are filled or at the published deadline
Two Approved Entry Formats:
-
Real Human Clients — Hair Art created on live clients in barbershops, salons, or homes (must follow all local health and safety regulations)
-
Official Cowhide Pieces — Hair Art created on premium official Hair-Art-Hide cowhide pieces available at MrHairArt.com (two-piece packs for $97)
Number of Entries: Due to high demand, the maximum may be limited to one primary entry per competitor. Sub-entries (additional designs under your main entry) are allowed for portfolio purposes but carry lower voting weight.
4. What You Must Submit (Proof of Originality)
Every entry requires a complete submission package:
-
High-quality before-and-after photographs of the finished Hair Art
-
Clear photos showing you with the finished design or actively creating it
-
Mandatory Proof-of-Work Video — A short video (60–180 seconds recommended) showing you creating the design from start to finish
Strict Rule: All work must be 100% original and created by you. AI-generated designs, copied work, or designs taken from the internet are strictly prohibited and will result in immediate disqualification without refund.
5. Competition Categories
Entries are judged in two main categories:
-
Regular Hair Art — Letters, numbers, geometric patterns, abstract designs, pictures, cartoon characters, portraits, and creative motifs
-
Hair Art Advertising (Featured Category) — Commercial and branded designs where company logos, products, slogans, or promotional imagery are artistically cut into hair. This category showcases the innovative advertising platform created by Mr. Hair Art and Mobalon.
Additional sub-categories (Best Portrait, Best Use of Color, etc.) may be announced on the website.
6. How Winners Are Chosen (Judging & Voting)
Winners are determined by a fair, transparent three-tier weighted judging system:
-
Public Votes — Open to everyone worldwide. A small per-vote fee prevents spam and ensures serious participation. Real-time vote counts are publicly visible on the website.
-
Celebrity Judges — Invited celebrities, influencers, and industry leaders cast independent votes.
-
Sponsor & Corporate Judges — Brand partners participating through Hair Art Advertising provide commercial perspective.
The specific weighting is published on the website before voting begins and remains fixed for each round. The process is designed for maximum transparency and fairness.
